Sports is an important part of life. Everyone should participate in sports or engage in physical activities to stay healthy. Now, let me share a very memorable day that I will never forget.

February 22, 2025, was my annual sports day. The event was supposed to start at 8 A.M. I woke up at 7 A.M., got ready, and headed out with my father. My best friend, Kayanat, had some issues and couldn’t go alone, so we picked her up on our way.

When we arrived at the venue, our mouths fell open—the field was enormous! There were two long pandals on opposite sides of the field. One was for the guardians and parents, while the other was for the students.

Our school has four houses (teams): Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. Red and Blue are the best teams, although Green is also competitive. As for Yellow… well, let’s just say they aren’t the strongest. I am proud to be in Red House.

Kayanat and I were in separate teams—she was in Green House, while I was in Red House. We found our seats in our respective pandals, met some friends, and chatted excitedly. After two hours, the event finally started. We were thrilled because it was our first time participating in the annual sports.

The event began with the march past. The Head Boy and Head Girl lit a fire in a mashal (torch) and walked around the entire field. Then, they handed the mashal to the Captain and Vice-Captain of Blue House, who passed it to Red House, then to Green House, and finally to Yellow House. It was an amazing sight!

Next, the Principal and some distinguished guests gave speeches. After some waiting, the first game—racing—began.

First, the boys competed, and Red House did really well—two of them came first, and one came second. Then, it was time for the girls’ race. I came first! They told us to seat in a separate pandel and some time later, they called the names of the girls who came first, second and third in the second race of class four. Me and two other girls went and stood on the podium and then the President of School Governing community came and he gave me the medal himself and shook hands with me. i was feeling over the moon at that time. Two other girls also secured first place in their rounds, while one girl came second. (There were four rounds, and I was in the second round).

After the Junior Section was done, it was lunchtime. The Senior Section then had their events. They performed neither too bad nor too well. But the funniest event of all was the sack race—one boy from Red House hopped like a kangaroo and finished the race super fast!

Apart from the races, there were points for discipline. Our team did really well and earned extra points for maintaining silence while the teachers were competing. Vice-captains and captains then had their race, and Red House did amazing!

Finally, it was time for the Teachers’ Race. Male teachers participated, and two teachers from Red House finished first and second. Interestingly, Blue House had been cheering for one of the teachers, thinking he was from their team—only to realize later that he was actually from Red House! Their actual teacher came third.

And in the end … drum roll, please … RED HOUSE WON!

We were literally jumping up and down, cheering as loudly as we could. My father even bought ice cream for some of my friends to celebrate.

It was truly a memorable day for all of us!

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it!
