Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury will depart for Kenya on February 26 to attend the High-Level Segment of the 6th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, representing Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Theme of this years UNEP Assembly is “effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollutiont” at a time when the world is confronting triple planetary emergency of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss and (plastic) pollution.
Minister Chowdhury will actively engage in the High Level segment of the Assembly, deliver Bangladesh’s country statement and showcase the country’s successes in locally led adaptation, while at the same time emphasizing the imperative of global solidarity and action. He will also underscore the importance of national initiatives and ownership in environmental stewardship.
Minister is scheduled to return home on March 3 after attending the UN Environment Conference.
